Coastal Networking Event: 08 August

08 August 2017 XWCN

TOPIC: Ditch the Prozac. Choose Mindfulness!

Mindfulness reduces stress and anxiety, whilst boosting EQ, self-awareness and overall happiness. EVERYONE wants to lead a less stressed, more engaged, joyful life, but Mindfulness seems a little ‘esoteric’ and inaccessible.

In this keynote, Debbie will introduce mindfulness-based principles in plain and simple English, as well as practical tools that you can use every day to shift out of the hectic rut of busy-ness, and transform your life.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER:
Debbie Goodman-Bhyat CEO | Entrepreneur | Author | Keynote Speaker
BA LLB; Entrepreneurial Growth Forum (London Business School); ACC (Associate Coaching Course)

Debbie is the founder and CEO of Jack Hammer, rated one of South Africa's top 3 executive search firms. She is a self-proclaimed ‘leadership futurist’, constantly seeking out and drawing on the latest, most progressive work on how to lead differently. She has recently published her first book, “IntheFlow – Taking Mindfulness to Work”, which was listed in the ‘Top 10 Best’ South African business books in 2016.

For almost 20 years she has invested in building a team of impassioned professionals within Jack Hammer, and in finding great leaders for organisations throughout Africa. Debbie is a founding member of the Cape Town Chapter of EO, a global entrepreneurship organization of 12 000 members, and she currently serves on EO’s Global Leadership Development Committee. She is married to Zaheer, a film producer. They have 2 young daughters and live in Cape Town, South Africa. www.jhammer.co.za

Terena le Roux Xtraordinary Woman of the MonthTerena le Roux - Owner & Editor of Ideas Magazine

Terena le Roux started her career as a newspaper journalist at Beeld before becoming the first fulltime researcher for Mnet’s Carte Blanche. She then moved to magazines as fashion editor at Rooirose and, after a short stint as freelance stylist, joined Woman’s Value as fashion & beauty editor and, from 2001, as editor. After she launched décor magazines Tuis and Home, she was appointed Editorial Head for Creative Living Magazines (WV,dit, Tuis & Home) and then became publisher on these titles for 3 years, during which she rebranded Woman’s Value and dit to Ideas and Idees. Editorial was her passion though and in 2009 she returned to the Ed’s chair at Ideas/Idees. When Media24 decided to close the title at the end of 2016, she took over the trademark and became owner-editor of the magazine.
