I have been a freelance bookkeeper for 20 plus years and a Pastel dealer & consultant for 12. In that period of time I learnt a huge amount about the set up of accounts for the SMME market. I also learned how hard it is to be doing bookkeeping & having to market your business. The worry of being sick or injured, as your income is dependent on hours worked. I inflicted stress on my family as I worked nights & weekends, to cope with all the aspects of the business myself.
This taught me two things.
1) The difference between working for yourself & having your own business.
2) All self-employed & small business owners have the same problem.
Out of this was born the idea of a Bookkeeping & Administration Franchise. I have a vision of Bookkeeping nodes offering a high standard of bookkeeping, payroll & related services, which can be relied upon by all businesses in the SMME market to look after their bookkeeping needs. Each of these franchisees will employ 1 to 4 bookkeepers, to meet their clients’ needs. This will create a sustainable business which can be sold. It will give the staff secure employment, as the business is big enough to weather the loss of a client, before you manage to get the next one on board.
I am passionate about empowering others. By employing a group of bookkeepers, we can afford to bring in youngsters & train them. I understand that it is lonely running your own business. You are always “the boss” or “the owner”.
